What happened
Sindhudurg Airport at Chipi received DGCA approval in January 2026 for round-the-clock, all-weather operations, which makes flights more dependable through the monsoon. Airports Authority of India figures show about 73,000 passengers in April 2025 to March 2026, nearly five times the year before.
In July 2026, the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) signed Ginger Sindhudurg, a 50-room hotel near Sindhudurg Fort, Sawantwadi and Tarkarli. The opening date has not been announced.
